The Marine Unit of the Columbia County Sheriff’s office is offering a Boating Safety Course at Copake Town Hall, 230 Mountain View Road, from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, June 1. This is a great opportunity for young boaters; people 10 and older, who were born on or after May 1, 1996, may operate a recreational boat on their own (not a personal watercraft) as long as they have completed this course and have their certificate onboard. Youngsters who want to operate a Personal Watercraft on their own must be at least 14 years old, have passed this course, and have their certificate onboard.

This week is the Deadline for Signup

Contact Sgt. Heath Benansky at heath.benansky@columbiacountysheriff.us, or call him at 518-828-334 ext. 1428 in order to register. The course is offered for free, but New York State requires a $10 fee to receive your certificate.
